Well to all of those who were hoping to have a bottle of the next batch of 120min from Dogfish Head this month, well here's the bad news: it ain't happening. The brewers had doubts about the new batch and you know the rule "when in doubt,throw it out"....

here's an excerpt from their blog,with a lil more detail..

"With regards to the most recent batch of 120 Minute IPA, I am sorry to say that dozens of passionate people at Dogfish got out voted by millions of yeast cells and this batch will not be released. This batch came in a bit under attenuated and got dinged on our sensory panel for dislocated flavors.

Each and every batch of beer we brew at Dogfish Head goes through over 40 Quality Control check points and while this batch passed many of these check points we decided with the results of the final sensory panel, days before packaging, that we dont feel this batch of 120 Minute IPA is up to par.

We know that 120 Minute sells at a premium price and we know expectations for this beer are, and should be, high. It is brewed with over 30 times the volume of hops and over 7 times the volume of malt per barrel than your average light lager. It is aged for over 5 times as long as the average ale. So this is a really expensive beer to make. And a really expensive beer to lose.

That said,we are more interested in preserving our long-term reputation for quality than we are pacifying short term frustrations with not getting this batch out on a certain timeline. We are sorry and we hope you understand and support our decision.

We are confident we will have a great batch of 120 Minute IPA out before the end of the year."

[Benicia, Calif. -- A semi-trailer loaded with 1,100 cases of wine ready for shipment was reported stolen from a Benicia freight consolidator March 15; that same morning, a tractor cab was reported stolen from a trucking business about two miles away in this North Bay city. Benicia police consider it likely that the two thefts are related.

One week later, the tractor truck was found abandoned in San Leandro, in the East Bay; shortly thereafter, the trailer was recovered -- empty -- in Menlo Park, on the San Francisco Peninsula. The tractor/trailer would have had to cross at least one major bridge to reach those destinations from Benicia.

Early reports estimated the value of the missing wine at $50,000. Benicia detective Kenny Hart told Wines & Vines this week that the value is now thought to be in the $90,000 range. The loaded trailer was taken from Fastbreak Consolidators, he said, and had been ready to ship to an out-of-state distributor.

Hart said the trailer contained a variety of wines, including saké, Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and at least one Napa brand, Layer Cake. “There was a lot of Petite Syrah, Cabernet and mixed cases,” he recalled. The detective, himself a wine collector, noted, “There was no Screaming Eagle.” ]

well I was meandering around Craigslist just now and found this ad..

Now I don't support this type of thing because it really doesn't fix the problem but lets everyone know that there is one..which is fine if you like to see or witness something ala "Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares",however whoever posted the following ad should've done better than posting on Craigslist..anyhoo, the ad below:

DuClaw in Fells Point Closes...WOW.

Well I just heard that DuClaw at Fells Point is closing..Wow.

The last time i went out that way, it had been afew years since I had ventured out and wandered those cobblestone streets.However, this time I wasn't alone and in fact including me and my present girlfriend was my at the time 2yr old daughter who after a jaunt around the block in her stroller decided it was time to go play in the fluffy grass right outside DuClaw. As onlookers and beer drinkers watched my daughter put on a free show- me and her skipping and making weird walking movements ala Monty Python, together through the grass causing my girlfriend to laugh, I noticed that this was actually pretty cool-what they had done to revitalize this area of Fells Point,which forever and a day had always looked like a heap of garbage and was an exclusive eyesore, had been changed into a beautiful new area to play and romp in! How or why DuClaw is closing, I really don't know-they made and had a great spot for outside dining and fun but I guess some good things are never nurtured well enough to be great. Well hopefully that spot comes available very soon.
